“THERE IS NO CHANCE FOR THE WELFARE OF THE WORLD UNLESS THE CONDITION OF WOMEN IS IMPROVED. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR A BIRD TO FLY WITH ONE WING..”
– SWAMI VIVEKANANDA
Imagine a prominent and nourishing environment in the city of Chicago where women can remind the world and one another of women’s dignity, leadership, and feminine principles of cooperation, and collaboration.
The Women’s Task Force of The Parliament of the World’s Religions is building
a Women’s Village within the otherwise sterile halls of McCormick Convention Center during the largest conference of its kind. This August, people representing their faiths, cultures, traditional and secular ethical identities will participate and/or lead around 400 workshops, panels, art, film, plenaries, and a variety of dynamic expressions of interest addressing interfaith understanding and dignity and human rights for all people. 61% of the attendees are women.
Six to eight thousand attendees come from over 80 countries to interact, explore, experience and be inspired to return home to improve conditions and advance solutions for a more just, safe, and harmonious world. 61% are women.
The Women’s Task Force of the Parliament has been granted a large space in the highly trafficked halls of the otherwise sterile environment of the conference center where we can build a Women’s Village. We have learned from past Parliaments that a single Red Tent in this environment provides a powerful and dynamic space for women to engage, create, support, honor, celebrate, nourish and be. It’s time to expand that space.
The theme for this conference is Defending Freedom and Human Rights. Imagine a prominent and nourishing environment where women can remind the world and one another of women’s dignity, women’s rights, leadership, and feminine principles of cooperation and collaboration.
In the spirit of feminine leadership, we feel a profound responsibility to honor local women’s organizations and groups by inviting you to take some part in the Women’s Village and women’s programming and initiatives during the five highly- dynamic days.
We have a variety of ways to participate and join the Women’s Task Force.
We are all highly creative and have/are creating fun and engaging initiatives and programs. Here are a few:
Join us as we build The Red Tent
This sacred space for women is the third consecutive Red Tent at the Parliament of World Religions. It represents our womb’s wisdom, our sisterhood, our personal gifts we bring to the world. It’s like a charging station for our power. Some programs are held in The Red Tent, or it’s open for women to come to be in a feminine space, out of the masculine environment of a busy convention center.
- Contribute fabrics, rugs, mats and/or pillows
- Volunteers to hold space
- Helping us fund the Red Tent
- We can use help setting it up Sunday morning, the Aug 13th
Join us to orchestrate and Manage the Women’s March
Happening the day before the opening ceremonies on Sunday, March 13th in a nearby park, we will be meeting and marching (wearing white) into the Convention Centering, ending at the Women’s Village where all will help to consecrate this powerful space. The SHEroes are coming with the drums, leading song, and more. We are making signs to show the city and the world women are here stronger than ever.
- Join the march as a constituency of your organization
- Help us manage the crowd
- Host / sponsor our sign-making station
Join us as we host and manage The Women’s Water ceremony(ies)
• Water is life and like water, women are the givers of life, nurturers of our bodies, our children, family, and community, and keepers of tradition for the next seven generations. While the Indigenous Task Force is hosting a sacred fire, the Women’s Task Force is hosting the sacred presence of water. A well and/or a fountain will be in the Women’s Village as will be The Mother Tree.
Speak Truth to Power, sing, listen-in, and listen-out as you are a part of the Women’s Assembly and Plenary.
• We are producing an assembly in the largest plenary hall, with women world-renown speakers, thought leaders and performers to inspire and prepare us for the week ahead.
We also have plenty of sponsorship opportunities which result in branding opportunities
- The Sister’s Fund supports the Women’s Task Force and Sponsorships making it possible to bring more women to the Parliament
- As according to our attached information, donor’s logos are placed on all of our posters placed throughout the Parliament.
We have a robust list of opportunities, volunteer tasks, and ways for your organization to be involved, seen, and honored for holding women’s programming, education, circles, or however you show up in your great city.
Attached is the full presentation will lay out and invite you to imagine our vision with us.
