Living in the Spirit of Council
An Advanced Training with Gigi Coyle
Gemeinschaft Sulzbrunn (Allgäu)
Let us come together in the spirit and practice of council.
When we face the death of our earth, what is essential in these times? What must we do and where are we to be? Join Gigi Coyle & team in a time of remembering the wisdom of the circle, awakening new skills and rediscovering the essence of council in our own cultures. Revisit how council is a worldview and why it is for many a way of life. Why and how is the practice of council part of the change in the dynamics of power and an important way to healthier local and global communities? How can learning to witness, to truly listen, speak from the heart and “read the field” prepare us to become activists in restoring and creating authentic relationships with people and place? Learn how the practice of council has found its way into prisons, schools, pilgrimages, and rites of passage, and how it can serve us in our work for a more just, more beautiful, healthier world?
We will work with various forms of council and explore issues relevant to our work in the world. Council sessions will include the questions and interests of those who gather and what feels most important to us in these times. Basic knowledge of English, some experience and prior knowledge of council practice is required to attend, as well as reading The Way of Council by Gigi Coyle and Jack Zimmerman (arbor-verlag). It is also helpful to study the Ways of Council website.
