A Global Council for Practitioners of THE CIRCLE WAY
Where: The Beuerhof Retreat Centre, Heerstrasse, 57549 Üxheim, in the countryside of Eifel, Germany.
When: September 20th – 24th 2017
Who is Invited: People who have already been introduced and had training in The Circle Way and who want to build skills and confidence in participation and hosting leadership;
People offering The Circle Way practice as part of their professional work or community service and want to connect with others and learn together;
People who want to build a community of practice in their country or region.
We seek international participation and diversity. The gathering will use English as our common language.
The Purpose: To build strong bridges; to link communities of practice in The Circle Way;
To build more courage and confidence in the art of Circle practice (Components Wheel, hosting with ease in different settings, holding steady in conflict & shadow, offering The Circle Way in professional life);
To discover one another across Europe and across the world—this is an open, international invitation;
To explore the business/economic aspects of hosting (how to explain circle to clients, how to charge for consulting in circle, patterns that help embed circle in the culture of organizations, and aligning circle with other hosting methods).
What to Expect
The hosting team will provide a frame work of the days that includes both programmed time and open space to host the questions and interests that people bring to this fire. The days are an immersion into the lineage of circle; to touch the foundations of self-preparation and ceremony in order to clarify our work carrying the circle into the modern world. The design includes large circle gatherings, small home circles, and open space circles. There will be outdoor fires, a sacred sweat lodge ceremony, and spaciousness to explore our questions and collective wisdom.
Wednesday, September 20th: arrival (4-6 pm), dinner (6:30 pm), Opening Fire (8 pm). Wednesday is the arrival afternoon for people to settle in, meet, walk the land, have dinner, check-in, and an opening fire.
Thursday, the first day, is designed to deepen personal practice and to open each of us to Nature and the archetypal connection that hosts us as we host circle.
Friday, the second day, we will consider the work already happening in organizations and how we might shift people’s understanding of circle from a participatory event to a participatory operating system.
Saturday, the third day is Community Day; we will consider ways that circle can respond to the needs of the world around us in our communities and countries. On this day, we invite an expanded community to join the conversation. People are welcome to arrive at the Beuerhof for a day pass. We hope to braid the streams of work and practice occurring in Art of Hosting, collaborative consulting, The Way of Council, Manitonquat’s The Circle Way, Dialogue, and explore how we can honor circle and support one another. Please note that you must register for this option, as the Beuerhof is remote and can only handle a certain number of people.
Sunday 24 September: closing council of harvest, lunch (12:30 pm), departure (2-4 pm)
Eating and drinking: The Beuerhof kitchen offers tasty dishes based on vegetarian, organic and regional foods. By arrangement, our kitchen can also offer foods containing meat from the region.
